As we celebrate Father's Day this month, we are reminded that being a dad is a constant juggling act of work, family commitments, and personal well-being. It takes a special kind of dedication (and a lot of heart) to carve out time for personal health while also stepping up as a community leader. Yet, right in our own neighbourhoods, there are everyday role models doing just that. They lead by example, proving that it’s possible to weave fitness, family time, and community service into one deeply rewarding lifestyle.
We sat down with Shiran, a dedicated father and local youth leader, to learn more about what fuels his drive and how he manages to juggle it all with an infectious energy that inspires those around him.
Finding Joy in Community Service
When asked what drives him to show up and lead by example week after week, Shiran explains that community involvement isn't an obligation for him; it is a source of genuine happiness.
"I'm a helpful person willing to help anyone, and I get real satisfaction out of helping others," he shares.
His dedication shines brightest in his work with local youth, where he steps up to ensure kids have a positive environment to grow. "I'm always happy to help children, which is why I actively lead a Sunday school for kids in our community."

Blending Family, Fitness, and Fun
Of course, maintaining that kind of commitment requires a lot of stamina. While health and fitness can sometimes feel like a chore for many, Shiran always brings incredible energy to his routine by making it enjoyable for both himself and his loved ones. He avoids burnout by treating health as an absolute necessity and keeping his activities varied.
"Health is my main priority, so I make sure to do some sort of exercise regularly, whether that’s swimming, going to the gym, or cycling," he notes.
But the real secret to his consistency is tying his fitness directly to family time. By utilising local community facilities like BayFit, he turns exercise into a shared bonding experience rather than isolated gym time.
"Take care of your own health plus your family," he advises. "I like to incorporate the whole family into a healthy lifestyle, such as bringing the kids along for a swim and making it a fun family day."
Practical Advice for Juggling It All
For other dads in the community wondering how to successfully balance taking care of their own health while still being present for their families and neighbourhoods, Shiran offers highly practical advice rooted in consistency.
First and foremost, he recommends establishing clear benchmarks. "Set yourself a goal of how many times per week you want to work out," he suggests, noting that having a concrete number makes accountability easier.
From there, he says it all comes down to logistics. "Plan ahead of time so it fits into your schedule, such as stopping by for a workout on the way home from work." By removing the friction of deciding when to go, finding balance becomes much easier.
Shiran reminds us that stepping up for our families and communities starts with making the conscious choice to take care of ourselves first!
